How are your courses conducted?
Most of our tailored courses are carried out through one-to-one email correspondence. All you will need is internet access. You do not have to be online at any particular time or day.
Having enrolled, the first module and assignments will be emailed to you on the course start date. The participating student returns the exercise by the agreed time; they then receive feedback and a new writing exercise. This process repeats for the duration of the writing course.
What are the exercises?
These may be specific tasks, such as creating a character. Or they may be based directly on the participant’s work, for example, editorial suggestions regarding how to rework a selected writing sample.
How much time will I need to allocate to a course?
The amount of time required to complete the writing assignments varies greatly from participant to participant. We do appreciate that many of those taking part work full-time and our courses are therefore tailored accordingly. We ask participants to bear in mind that here will be writing exercises or tasks to work on each week, so we recommend that participants set aside time for these.
Do you give feedback?
We will email you once a week with written feedback about your work and progress.
How will the Zoom or Teams courses work?
The shorter courses are delivered via Zoom or Teams. As host, Sylvia Cullen will issue an invitation in accordance with current best practice regarding Data Protection. Sylvia has regularly been Garda Vetted in relation to her facilitation work for working with children and vulnerable adults.

What is your refund/cancellation policy?
In accordance with distance selling regulations, customers are entitled to a full refund within one week of your payment, provided that the creative writing course has not already commenced. Unfortunately, after this time, we cannot refund fees in respect of cancellation. Likewise, we cannot offer partial refunds to participants who do not complete a course.
