Sylvia’s previous stage plays include the devised drama OWL for Corcadorca at Cork City Hall; Crows Calling at the Firkin Crane Theatre; Chrysalis, her one-woman show for the Armada Festival in Dublin, Belfast, Derry and Cork; Bedazzled and The Legend of Lola Montez for N.T.C. Touring Theatre Co. in Northumberland.

Her one-act play Contagious was commissioned by The Arts Council and performed at the Courthouse Arts Centre, as well as Mountjoy Prison. Galloglass commissioned her play for children Hunting the Strawberry Tree, in addition to the devised drama Broken Ground. Sylvia was also commissioned to write two monologues for Creative Connections in Dublin and New York: Scratch Mittens and Born So. Commissioned by The Arts Council and performed at the Courthouse Arts Centre, her play The Thaw, is published by New Island Books.

Playwriting residencies include a stay at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre as a recipient of the Rough Magic Writing Award, as well as residencies at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris and the Heinrich Böll Cottage on Achill Island.
